What You've Been Missing

Hopefully, you've been coming to our programs. If not, here's some of what you've missed lately:

"Pac-Man Tournament: Teen Read Program"
During this program, teens participated in a Pac-Man Tournament as part of our Teen Read Week Celebration of Books with Bite! Everyone left a winner as all our participants received a Teen Read Week cup or water bottle packed with lots of goodies! We also had bookmarks to encourage voting for the Teens' Top Ten and tickets for the TRW party at ImaginOn.

"No Names: A Workshop for Socially Conscious Teens"

The first half of this workshop included a discussion about what bullying is and how something as simple as name calling can be extremely hurtful. There were discussions about how it feels to be bullied and called names and vice versa. We also talked about why some people are motivated to intentionally hurt others. The second half of this workshop included a presentation from Time Out Youth! We heard from three courageous teens who told their coming out stories and also gave us insights into their lives as LGBTQ teens. The speakers answered many questions that the participants had in addition to addressing important issues such as homophobia.

Celebrate National GLBT Book Month

June is National GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender) Book Month!
Celebrate it by reading a book that is on our display in the Teen Zone or choose one from the booklist brochure that can also be found on display. These books address real-life issues that all teens face - whether you're gay or straight. Check them out today.
